Should I buy an 2000 Audi A6 with 76,000 miles?

Q: for $7,000 for $7,000 for $7,000 for $7,000 I remember someone saying a used car's miles should meet between 8,000-10,000 miles per year.. so this is at about 9,500 per year.

A: As an owner of an 2000 Audi A6 - these cars can be attractive buys used because of the depreciation when bought used (which I did). However, you will have to allow for fairly high maintenance and service costs as these are luxury/sport performance vehicles. You should expect to change out the timing belt & water pump around 80K to 90K miles, which is pretty soon. Typical costs for parts and labor is around $1200 to $1500 from an independent garage (dealers can be higher). Now if you're not scared off by this, and you accept the tradeoff of higher running/ownership costs for the luxury and comfort of an Audi, go ahead and check it out if you really want it. I would also have an independent garage check out the car before you buy so that you don't have a problem car.
