what maintenance and cost have you had on your audi a4?

Q:

A: There is some called the Maintenance Booklet and the Owner's Manual. You will be surprised that is not that expensive. Lets take for example, my wife's VW with a 2.5L 5Cly Audi engine with a Tiptronic. The 1st maintenance is at 5,000 miles, second at 10,000 but after that, is every 10,000 miles. That is quiet a bit of mileage. The oil has to meet VW Audi Specs and is not hard to find, I used Castrol Syntec 5W40 or you could use Mobil 1 0W40. Is all in the book, 502 and 505 specs here is a link for it.... http://www.vaglinks.com/Docs/Misc/Audi_VW502-00_VW505%2001_OilQualityStandards.pdf That is a tech bulletin on how many different brands of oils you can get for it. The Oil HAS TO BE SYNTHETIC so is pricey, like my Chevy Impala that I use Mobil 1 on it. That is about $6 a quart. But it last for such a long time, that is worth it in the long run. These cars are Low Maintenance. Spark Plugs last at least 100,000 miles. On the Air Filter is a visual inspection and is you can find them at the local Auto Part stores. What is expensive is the labor and the over priced everything in the dealer. The Maintenance Book clearly states that you can do the maintenance as long you provide receipts of performing it so your warranty is not voided. The Maintenance Booklet has tons of visual inspections like fluid checking. Any Monkey can do that. What is pricey, depending on what needs to be check and if you can. Is like Timing Belt, it has to be change perhaps around 60,000 miles or maybe a bit more or any other thing that has to be checked like wheel bearings or some other things that a shop with the right tools has to do the job. Read the manual and see what needs to be checking, you can do most of it and save lots of money and down time. It does pays to read the owner's manual and the other booklets that comes with it. So far, is not a bad car to own and is not that expensive unless you wreck it and has to buy some body parts, that is very expensive ! Have fun if you get it !
