Q: if you stop the car and turn off for 5mins its fine again!! many thanks for your answers so far I'm a mechanic of some 35yrs some of your answers are good ! But read the question, The car runs perfect up until the time it cuts out!. turn it off!! for a min and restart its fine for a further 100 to150 mls . with a problem like this its almost impossible to find. A: When you refill with fuel do you get a rush of air from the filler neck ? if so it may be a blocked tank breather this would show after the sort of distance that you quoted blocked breather causes a vacuum in the tank that restricts fuel flow best wishes
