Audi Avant A4 wont start 1.8 1996 131000 miles?

Q: Bought the car 3 days ago, all fine, filled it to the brim with shell V-super unleaded drove home 2 miles switched it off, started playing with the blower controls ( because they did not seem to be working) so turned ignition half way to get the power on and blowers fired up , so then turned ignition all the way on to make sure they still worked and the engine would not start . checked fuses all fine, feels like an immobiliser problem as the key feels like it shouild turn more but the light fot the immobiliser comes on and goes out like it should. on the dash the amber fuel light is on and the 3 red warning lights for oil temp and brakes are continuously flashing.

A: Warning lights flashing when the ignition is on is normal for VAG vehicles Is yours an automatic if so it may be an inhibitor switch fault if it is an auto it will only start in neutral or park hope this helps a little bit
