Q:

A: I owned one and loved it...depends on several factors. For me, the nearest Alfa Repair shop was 40 minutes away...and a very expensive tow. How close is your perspective Alfa repair shop and do they have any competitors. Mine had none at the time and EVERYTHING was expensive, even preventive maintenance. The Veloces have a reputation for burning oil as well. I finally sold the car after one-too-many close calls on the freeways. With people lifting their trucks to unsafe heights, a small car like the Veloce ends up going unnoticed by these monster trucks and big rigs. Also, the safety features are minimal in most models because the manufacturer wanted to keep the cars lightweight. Also, have you ask your auto insurance agent for a rate quote yet? After weighing repair venues and repair rates, insurance costs and lack of safety/size visibility issues, you should have a better idea if the Alfa is a good way for you to ride. I loved my Alfa, but my Dad once said he was afraid they would have to bury me in it because people in big cars just don't pay attention enough...and this was before the cell phone usage explosion.
