acura integra ?

Q: i just got a 99 integra and i want to put an exhaust on it does it depend on the exhaust so it could sound loud or what parts do i need to make the exhaust loud

A: whoa! hold up, an integra is a performance car, you can't just throw a fart can on it and not think of it. the intergra b18 engine is perfectly engineered to the microns. if you want to put an exhaust on it, you should do it right. start from the exhaust manifold. get rid of the stock iron cast manifold and get a mandrel bent pipe header 4-1 or 4-2-1 configuration. then buy or customize a cat-back system of 2-2.25 inches diameter. the catalytic converter should be a low restriction one. find a converter that will be applicable to a small block v8 and has inlet and outlets of 2-2.25 inches. the main exhaust pipe should be bent from a one piece pipe and not three or four pieces wielded together. you don't want pipes that is too big. too free flowing is only good for low end accelerations. you need to have some back pressure to still create horse power at high rpms. you can pick your muffler of choice but try not to get one that is obnoxiously loud. it just says that you are a newbie ricer. you want a nice soft deep tone when idling, almost non audible when at a stop light but only roars when you punch the gas. in most states you can get a citation for noise pollution and its not funny when the fine ranges from $300-$1000 plus getting you car refereed at and state enforced station. there they will visually and mechanically inspect your whole car. and it has to pass. if not then you cant get it re-registered.
