2009 Acura TSX?

Q: The new 2009 Acura TSX says it starts at $28,960 on the acura website. but i know it will end up costing more with tax and everything, does anybody know how much the final cost would be with just the car with the standard equipment, nothing optional or anything. just the standard model.

A: The final Out the Door "OTD" price depends on your sales tax rate. There are other fees too such as vehicle license and registration too. You'll also have to contact your insurance company which could increase your rates for having a new car. Since I don't know what state you reside, an exact answer isn't possible for me to tell you. You'll have to figure it out on your own. First of all, you shouldn't pay MSRP (Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price) of a car. You always go from the invoice price and negotiate up. Unfortunately, the '09 TSX is a brand new design and in high demand so it will be much harder to negotiate a price close to invoice for a while. On the other hand, with car dealerships hurting from the poor economy, you should be able to negotiate some. Here's how I negotiated my last two cars, including my '05 TL: 1. Figure out where all the local Acura dealerships are located that you're willing to travel to and contact the Internet Manager. In my case, it was about six dealerships. 2. Explain that you're planning to buy in the near future. Tell him/her the exact model you'd like and that you've sent this message to all his/her competing Acura dealerships. 3. You'll probably get several immediate responses. Use the price quotes you receive from the dealerships against each other to get the best price. "Sunnyvale Acura quoted me $28,500. Can you beat it?" etc. By negotiating directly with the Internet Managers, you bypass the salesmen and all the timely negotiating that goes on if you're AT the dealership. Since the Internet Managers are Managers, they have the power to give you a good price. Good luck!!
