Q: so i have a 95 gsr with the gsr tranny but it really feels rugged like a cable transmission but everyone says its a hydraulic transmission. I really want the smooth feel of a hydraulic but it doesn't feel like it at all. how do i get it to shift like a hydraulic when it feels like a cable tranny? do i need transmission fluid or something? Well I think my transmission is hydraulic transmission - cable actuated. does that make any sense though?
A: Your transmission IS a hydro-tranny. If it feels notchy, your synchros could be going bad. A good thing to check would be your trans fluid especially if it hasn't been changed in awhile. When you do change the fluid you should use either GM synchro mesh, redline full synthetic, or motul. Also bleed the hydrolic clutchline, make sure there is good clean fluid in it.
