Q: The 2008 TL is really low now. TMV is at or just below invoice according to Edmunds. I FINALLY test drove a TL today and of course loved it. I also drove the 09' TSX. Loved it also. Questions?? Are there any negatives to buying the TL since it will be overhauled in 2009? The price is essentially the same now. Only drawbacks being the TL is old news now and for the TSX the drawback is the dealing not having to work with you at all. What the hell would you people do. It is only a 30K decision so it is only logical to leave it to an internet message board. :) Thanks for all of the input. Looked at the Cadillac CTS again today. Like the outside look of the car. But it is a little tighter inside. Especially after climbing in an Acura. Also, backseat much smaller. Also less backseat headroom. Even less than the TSX. I have not been able to test drive a CTS on the highway (damn Houston traffic). That will be one more step. I drove both of these Acuras and neither felt like they struggled at all on highway. I was concerned about the 4-cylinder.

A: Don't worry about the TL being "Old news"- it's still one of the best in class in it's last year. It doesn't shine in any one area but rather is good (but not perfect) at literally everything. It's not the fastest, but it's fast, it's not the nimblist, but it's nimble... you get my drift. An Acura TL is very fuel efficient, yet it tells the world that you are successful and plan on continuing that. It still, to tell you the truth, looks new and is nothing close to old, and will take a very, very long time to go out of style as other carmakers attempt to catch up to the Acura designers. The others are right; no matter how much or how reliable a car manufacturer is, the first year will always have a few kinks. The TSX is no exception and will probably have a few minor things or even major. However, mind you, both of these are reliable, fast, agile, and are fuel sippers. They are both good choices, but the TL is the way to say you have arrived, and the car will never get old. One last thing though, despite your love for both cars. Car purchases are more than choosing the practical, sensible one, or the one with the best numbers. It's the emotion and feel that counts- the look, the feeling, the little features that make you smile. The shift knob in your hand, your left hand gripped on the leather-wrapped steering wheel, the feeling taking it off the dealer lot, that signature, responsive Acura handling. Does it feel good? It better. If you don't feel passionate about your car, then what's the use of spending all that money. Don't get me wrong, these are both beautiful cars, but choose the one for you- not the one for me! Hope this helps! Have fun! You have a tough choice. -haynedoy
