Q: i mean does that mean that my engine is really good, and hot stuff or just old technology because some other cars can run on regular gas.

A: Neither. Higher octane fuel burns slower in your engine than lower octane fuel. This is so the fuel does not ignite prematurely during the compression cycle. That would cause spark knock/pinging. Your engine was designed to run on high octane fuel, most likely because you have a higher compression ratio. If your car has a turbo, that would ncessitate higher octane. Your engine works just like any other car on the road, it just requires higher octane to prevent knocking. Higher octane fuel does not increase the performance of your engine, but it does enable the engine to acheive the higher level of performance it was designed for. Hope this helps.
