What is a good tire choice for the 2006 Acura RSX?

Q: I own a 2006 Acura RSX (Base), and my tires need replacing soon. I have the original set of Michelin Pilot HX MXM4 205/55R16-89V's on the car now. The cost to replace them with another set of the same thing is approx $800. Theyve lasted me 32k miles so far, with maybe another couple thousand left before theyre done. Can anyone recommend a different tire that is either less expensive and comparable or the same price and better? I drive fast, so traction is important, handling matters. My car overall handles not so great in pouring rain, but i live in southern california where thats less of an issue. Brands? Tire models? Links? Stores? Any help on this is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

A: I had the Michelin Pilot HX MXM4 as OEM tires on my 6MT '05 TL. They were not very good tires and WAY overpriced for their performance, in my opinion. Some very good choices as replacements: Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Positions are a solid choice. $114 a piece at Tirerack and will provide much better performance than the Michelin Pilot HX MXM4s you had. These are very popular tires. Goodyear Eagle F1 All Seasons are also a good choice. I've heard some complaints in the Acura forums about quality issues though. Yokohama Avid V4S. I love Yokohamas and have never had any problems with them before. I currently have Yokohama ADVAN S.4s - awesome tires but a bit pricey. You might want to look into the Yokohama S.drives too. You should certainly look at www.tirerack.com and read the comparisons, Tirerack reviews, and customer reviews. It's an awesome site that will answe all your questions. Another thing Tirerack will do if you purchase tires from them is ship the tires to an installer near you - very convenient service. My local Wheelworks pricematched Tirerack's price too so that's another option.
